https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?553161-Update-14-1-Release-notes
On my Mac client I get this message when opening the game client:
"Would you like to install the high resolution data files for this game? This optional download will require 6 Gigabytes of available hard drive space. If you decline, you may choose this download at a later time through the options panel from the launcher." No mention of it in release notes.
Is it known if this relates to certain locations within the game?

Not sure, i never really bothered to try the high resolution client. The normal one can be really heavy for some reason, can only imagine the high res -.-

I've never had that popping up when starting up the lotro launcher :o Maybe my pc is not worthy of a high res client.. ;< In other words my pc might be just mediocre. <.<

If you have a good computer and have no problems you should get it covers the whole game, making it look better all over.
If you can't run it on high graphics settings you'd never be able to see those high res textures anyway so it'd just be a waste of hard drive space.
