Lotr: Battle for Middle Earth

Surprised no one mentioned these games yet :o

Recently managed to instal the 2nd one on my win 8 comp and works fine, fantastic strategy game for Lotr fans, even if its a bit old

Well, *now* we can talk about the game using first hand experience...

Ok, got it. With the Witch-King of Angmar expansion as well.
The game is nice and you have a crapload of faction to play with.

Based on the faction you are playing with, you get certain kind of powers and certain Heroes (e.g. Gondor faction has Boromir).
Some of the more known characters: Gandalf (Grey and White), Galadriel, Saruman, Sauron, Glorfindel, Thranduil... Both Sauron and Galadriel become more powerful if the get the One Ring from Gollum in the map (Galadriel turns in the "rage mode" appeared in the movie).
What I find nice is that you can make your own hero as well, customising its look, stats and abilities.
For each type of hero there are several "classes". We have "Men of the west" (classes: Captain of gondor, Shield maiden), "Elves" (Male elf, Female elf. Both archers), "Magic user" (Wanderer, Avatar, Hermit), "Dwarves" (Sage, Taskmaster), "Servants of Mordor" (Troll, Orc, Uruk), "Corrupted men" (Easterling, Haradrim) and, only in the Witch-King expansion, "Olog-hai" (Great troll, Snow troll, Hill troll).

The farming buildings (farms, mines, etc.) have a radius. Each special terrain (mountains, rocks, water, other buildings and also other farming buildings' radius) deplete the % of resources you can get from that specific building).
But what I really don't like is that there is really a few number of building types (but I might be wrong).

There REALLY are a lot of maps and I think I have noticed a world-builder program as well in the installation folder.

Oh, I forgot. You can summon the old merry Tom which will dance around and make the enemies go BOOOOM.

I have the Collector's Edition which includes LOTR:The Battle For Middle-Earth I, II and the expansion pack The Rise of The Witch-King which adds Angmar(freakin' cool:D). So whoever wants to play with me hail please. Best RTS games out there
